2017-2018 Season
Spotlight’s 2017-2018 season featured a mix of three fairly recent family musicals, and three musicals from the late 1960s to early 1970s era for older audiences.
The most unique addition was the drama Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s classic adapted by Kenny Grossman and featuring an all-percussion original score by Connor Sample.
This was the final season we were authorized to perform David Wo’s unique adaptation of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a long Spotlight tradition. (The following year, we staged the newly licensed version for one last Pageant.)
Spotlight performers and artists won 30 National Youth Arts Awards from among 70 nominations for the 2017-2018 season, as well as 26 “Zonis” from among 66 nominations for ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence.
